Movie Reaction Paper free essay sample This is a very inspiring true story of how a man, Nelson Mandela, who was a prisoner became a president of his beloved country. But as he took his place as the president, there is a great challenge that he needs to overcome- that is to unite his country and break the law of apartheid. Nelson Mandela knew that his country remains racially and economically divided, but he believed that through the universal language of sport, Rugby, he can bring his people together. With the help of the Captain Francois Pienaar, the captain of the Springboks, they changed their nation together as they made the impossible possible- to win the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Nelson Mandela is a well-respected man with a great determination and philosophy. As their newly-elected leader, he knew that he has a great responsibility to change his country- but it will start with forgiveness and reconciliation. He even accepted the staff of the previous administration even though these people were working with the president who imprisoned him. In every word he uttered, there is wisdom. He has the ability to encourage and influence someoneââ¬â¢s point of view. The following are some of the words of wisdom that Mandela said. ââ¬Å"We need inspirations to aspire because in order to build our nation, we must all exceed to our expectations. â⬠ââ¬Å"I have to know my enemy before I could prevail against him. â⬠ââ¬Å"We have to surprise them (the Whites) with compassion, with restraint and generosity. â⬠ââ¬Å"This is no time to celebrate petty revenge, this is the time to build our nation using every single brick available to us. Even if that brick comes wrapped in green and gold. â⬠ââ¬Å"You elected me as your leader. Let me lead you now. â⬠Nelson Mandelaââ¬â¢s words were very powerful that it can persuade anyone. The way he talked was very different with other characters in the story. He spoke figuratively while others spoke the normal way. This indicates that Mandela was superior to other characters in the movie. Aside from this, we can also see that Mandela used his experiences in order to come up with these words. Nelson Mandelaââ¬â¢s life and beliefs can really serve as an inspiration to anyone. Through all the trials that came his way, he never surrendered. In the fell clutch of circumstances, he had not winced nor cried a lot. He stayed strong to overcome all the hardships that life may bring. Many people tried to put him down, but he learned to forgive and reconcile. Francois Pienaar even mentioned that Mandela ââ¬Å"could spend thirty years in a tiny cell, and come out ready to forgive the people who put him there. â⬠This inspirational movie renders that we really are the masters of our fate and the captains of our soul.
